We have been coming to Dr. Prestel and staff for many years now. I am a registered nurse and also a huge "animal lover," with high expectations. My stepfather is also a veterinarian. When my beloved chocolate lab, "Jingo," took a turn for the worse over the course of a day after being treated for "strep throat," I was advised by a friend, to call Mary Kathryn at home. My friend, also big animal lover, said she had been very pleased with how knowledgeable Mary Kathryn was as well as how skilled Dr. Prestel was with his diagnosing abilities....Sure enough, after thorough examination of my lab and xrays, Dr. Prestel showed me how multiple kidney stones had occluded Jingo's urinary tract, his bladder had begun rupturing...led to emergency surgery...(there was no sign of strep throat). This vet in my home town, who misdiagnosed, is no longer here. Dr. Prestel, very compassionately, told me he would do everything he could to save "Jingo," but that it would be "touch and go." In my own personal experience, I can tell you that Dr. Prestel, Danny, Mary Kathryn nursed my dog back to good health. Dr. Prestel even kept him in his office every day, watching over him as if he were his own....I will always be thankful for his quick diagnosis, skilled hands, and big heart! He literally stitched my dog's bladder back together after kidney stones had blocked urinary tract, causing urine to leak into his abdomen, infection set in....He thrived after he was treated appropriately, but I also know the good Lord and the personal effort put into saving him and loving on him in the process made it possible...My Jingo lived 6 more years after that, was diagnosed with untreatable "Swamp Cancer"...at the end of his days, the only person that I would even consider to lovingly, comfortably put him out of his misery was the man that saved him...Dr. Prestel. There were many "wet eyes" that day....Thank you, Dr. Prestel and staff...always your fan, Terri.

So friendly and welcoming

They were all so good with the animals. On the follow-up visit, my dog went right on back with the Vet without crying.

I can't possibly say enough about how incredibly caring and helpful this vet has been for us. We started going there to get a second opinion about our Weimaraner's heart worms. Our prior vet has us thinking she was very sick with heart worms and that we would have to pay at least $1,000 to help her. We went to Canton Animal Hospital, and they told us her case wasn't that bad and she could get on routine heart worm preventative -- saving us so much money. She has been doing great too! We were so thankful for their honesty. Most importantly, yesterday we had to put our 14-year-old black lab to sleep. Needless to say we were absolutely devastated. The vet and everyone in the office were so supportive and empathetic. This meant so much to me, and I'm glad that our sweet dog was surrounded by kind people in her last few minutes. We are lifelong Canton Animal Hospital customers!

Very knowledgeable and helpful
